Matrix Enhanced® Perennial Ryegrass

A reliable, very late-heading diploid inter-species cross of perennial ryegrass and meadow fescue. Matrix enhanced® perennial ryegrass offers strong persistence and fast re-growth after drought, making it ideal for regions with pasture persistence issues.
Available in standard Endophyte and low Endophyte.
-
Why use
- A thoroughly proven, reliable, very late heading perennial inter-species cross.
- High pasture quality and palatability.
- Very good persistence and disease resistance
Standard Endophyte
Suited to regions where pasture persistence is a problem, particularly due to pasture pest predation. Has proven particularly popular in Waikato and Northland with farmers looking for improved pasture persistence.
Suitable for use as a high performing grass under rotational grazing and set stocking in high rainfall, irrigated and dryland regions. Standard Endophyte containing grasses can cause grass staggers in late summer and autumn and should not be used with highly susceptible stock such as deer or horses.
Insect deterrence: black beetle adults, Argentine stem weevil, pasture mealy bug, limited tolerance to root aphid.
Low Endophyte
Suited to cooler, wetter regions such as southland, South Otago and the west coast where pasture insect pressure is lower. Low Endophyte Matrix is animal safe and will not cause grass staggers or heat stress. It is suitable for all livestock types as a high performing, persistent grass. -
Benefits/Agronomic information
- Very late heading (+23 days) for carrying pasture quality late into spring.
- Fast re-growth response after drought.
- Persistence - 5+ years
- Winter activity - very high
- Sowing Rate - 16 - 20 kg/ha
- Heading Dates - (days of cf nui) - + 23
- Minimum Rainfall - 500+ ml
- Rust resistance: - 9 (1=susceptible 9=resistance)
